Its official: we like the 997 if sales figures are any indication. Porsche sold 2300 996s in first quarter of 2005 in the US, but they moved 2839 997s for same period this year. That is a lot of cars. In fact March 2006 was the best 911 sales month in US history at 1127 units. The company sales pace seems to be holding as another
560 units went out, again a lot of cars into the hands of customers in March, although this seems to be at the expense of Boxter sales that have dropped of to only 1127 units through March 2006 vs. 2725 a year ago.
Cayenne US sales are holding  essentially flat  at 2997 units for Jan-March vs.3093 for the first three month in 2005,so is seems that sales decline there has halted and the Cayenne will likely end up with 11 to 12 thousand units for 2006. Year to date sales for Porsche are up 26 percent to a total of 9117 units, compared to7219 sold in the first month of last year.
